Adoption

If after the 72-hour hold period, a dog or cat remains at the shelter, and is unclaimed, it may be eligible for adoption.

To adopt an animal, the person must be at least 17, provide a photo ID and be willing to comply with sterilization and rabies vaccination agreements. There is a $20.00 adoption fee.

Animal Control Ordinance

February 15, 2005 the City of Junction adopted a new Animal Control Ordinance to include dogs and cats.
Printed copies of the ordinance can be purchased at City Hall, 730 Main Street, Junction, TX 76849 or can be viewed online at City Ordinances.

Lost or Missing Pets

If you have a lost or missing pet, please contact the shelter and city office. If your animal has been found,
impounded or injured we may be able to help you. This is extremely important if your animal isn't wearing current
tags, as we may no longer know how to contact you.

Pet Registration

Why is it important?
  1. It is the law
  2. It could mean a free ride home for your pet. If you can be contacted and it's the 1st time your animal is picked up by Animal Control.
  3. Extended stay at the Shelter if for some reason you can't be contacted. Hold period becomes longer for an animal with current tags.
  4. If your animal is wearing current tags, the 1st time impoundment fee will be waived
